SCA and American Express Incentive Services Create A New Stored-Value Card Concept
New Concept Offers Cost-Saving Alternative To Traditional Rebate Checks and Gift Cards

DALLAS, TX – July 28, 2003 – SCA Promotions, a leading provider of prize coverage for contests and promotions, today announced its innovative stored-value card concept as a cost-saving alternative to traditional rebate checks and gift card programs. SCA will offer American Express Incentive Services (AEIS) cards and will assume the risk of over-redemption. By assuming the risk, SCA can offer the cards at very attractive pricing, which allows marketers to determine costs precisely before a program even starts.

AEIS combines the power of the American Express point-of-sale system with a fully customizable card and technology to specify where the cards may be used. Benefits of the card program include increased brand recognition through custom-branded cards, the ability to influence future consumer purchases by specifying at which merchants the card may be used, and interactive online and phone-in customer service.

AEIS stored-value cards work like a gift card at the point of sale and allow marketers and employers to award incentives based on customer actions and employee performances. Common applications are sales incentives, in-pack offers for consumer goods, grand openings for retailers, incentives for consumers to test drive a new car and customer loyalty programs for the travel industry.

Cards are available in a multitude of denominations. Sponsors determine the values, expiration date, graphics, logos and the delivery mechanism.

AEIS’ patented filter technology also allows sponsors to determine whether cards are redeemable everywhere American Express is accepted, or limited to a particular retailer or even store location. This feature supports sponsors’ co-marketing and trade marketing efforts. For example, with direct marketing, the spending stays in the sponsor’s distribution system.

“This reward program is simple to implement, flexible, and has many applications,” stated Bob Hamman, president and founder of SCA. “From our years of designing promotions, we know that rewards do motivate individuals to higher levels of performance or to perform certain actions.”

“Our new partnership with SCA makes sense for everyone,” said Darryl Hutson, chief executive officer of AEIS. “SCA’s leadership in promotion risk management coupled with our expertise in motivation and reward solutions is a winning combination both for us and our respective clients.”

AEIS develops and delivers business-to-business reward solutions designed to satisfy a spectrum of clients’ needs – from employee motivation, loyalty and recognition to distribution partners, sales representatives and customers. In addition to traditional American Express® Gift Cheques and reward cards, AEIS also offers virtual rewards that allow participants to receive points online and to redeem these points at a comprehensive list of online merchants. AEIS is headquartered in Fenton, Mo., a suburb of St. Louis. For more information, log on to
